    Effects of Information and Communication Technology (Ict) on Nigerian Educational System: A Case Study of Kogi State University, Anyigba

    This research paper examines the effects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on Nigerian educational system with a focus on Kogi State University (KSU), Anyigba. The study employed the survey method, choosing 40 academic staff, five library staff, 5 management staff and 250 students randomly from the seven (7) faculties at KSU. A questionnaire containing 39 questions was administered using mean (X) and standard deviation (SD) and t-test to analyze the data. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance and a coefficient of 0.85 was established using the statistical tool of Pearson product moment correlation coefficient. The result among other things showed that (1) lack of ICT professional, resources, infrastructure and management support affects effective teaching and learning and research development in Nigerian schools, (2) common challenges include but not limited to poor funding, lack of infrastructure, lack of technical support and lack of professional development in ICT use and integration into curriculum. It is the recommendation of this study among other things, that the government and her agencies should support their own ICT policy by providing funding to schools and to also look at curriculum changes that encourages ICT integration

    This paper focused on using reflective thinking skills for education quality improvement in Nigeria.  Education was considered in this paper as a process of learning that assists in the provision of suitable skills, training the youths for economic, social cultural and political responsibilities in transmission and transformation of social, economic, and cultural structure from generation to generation.  The term quality was opined as the determination of gradations based on standard of excellence beneath which a mark of inferiority is imposed or adduced and above which grades of superiority are defined.  Reflective thinking involves personal consideration of one's own personal achievements and failures and asks what worked, what didn't and what needs improvement.  Reflective thinking is most important in prompting learning at a time of complex solving situations due to the fact that it avails the opportunity to go backwards and think about how they actually to solve problems and how a particular set of problem solving strategies is appreciated for achieving their goals.  In fact reflective thinking is a Part of the critical thinking process of analyzing, evaluating, and making judgment about what has happened.  It is the recommendation of this paper that the teachers should be involved in facilitating the development of reflective thinking in students.     Entrepreneurial Education in Nigeria Universities: A Recipe for National Development in the 21st Century

    This paper focused on entrepreneurship education in Nigerian Universities as a recipe for national development in the 21st century.   The sole aim of this paper was to highlight the place of entrepreneurial education in directing national development and possible challenges of entrepreneurial education.  Entrepreneurial education was considered in this paper as the inculcation in the citizenry appropriate skills, habits and competences necessary for self and paid employments.   Inadequate funding, man power shortage, among others was identified as the challenges of entrepreneurship education in Nigerian Universities.  It was recommended that apart from improving the funding policy of the government, the Universities should strictly embrace and follow the entrepreneurship education policy of the federal government.
